Fancourt Links Golf Course
Fancourt is the ideal base from which to explore the Garden Route.
Glorious swimming beaches are easily accessible and mountain biking, horse riding, picnics and hikes can be arranged. Guests can book sightseeing excursions to the nearby coastal towns of Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Mossel Bay as well as historic Oudtshoorn.
The three Fancourt golf courses, all designed by Gary Player, offer guests uniquely differing golfing experiences.
Since opening in 1991 with a hotel and 27 holes, the estate has gone from strength to strength, collecting numerous awards along the way and honoured, by selection, to host two of the world’s biggest golf events – the 2003 Presidents Cup and the 2005 Women’s World Cup of Golf
Known by many for being the number one golf course in all of South Africa, the Links definitely has pride of place on every golfer’s bucket list! The design of the course was modelled on the links courses of the British Isles and, unsurprisingly, Gary Player has described it as his greatest ever feat as a course designer. The Links is best characterised by its dune-style landscape and undulating terrain, as well as the fact that it’s sure to pose a challenge to even the most esteemed players out there
