Perched on the banks of the Sabie River near the town of Hazyview in Mpumalanga Province in South Africa, Kruger Park Lodge is located just outside the iconic Kruger National Park, 10 km from the Park’s Phabeni Gate.
Surrounded by beautiful indigenous gardens abundant with bird life, impala and hippo, the lodge offers something for everyone and is the first choice for guests wishing to visit the Kruger National Park as day visitors. Guest accommodation appointed self-catering chalets with fully equipped kitchenettes and outdoor braaing/ barbequing facilities. The thatched chalets are well appointed and feature air-conditioning, comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms, TV’s, and balconies with stunning views.
Guests, who are not going on a game drive into the Kruger National Park, can enjoy walking along the lodge’s nature trails, or relax around one of three sparkling swimming pools or, better still, rise to the challenge offered by the 9-hole Gary Player designed golf course. Other facilities at the resort include tennis courts, putt putt, volleyball, and canoeing. (The tennis courts are floodlit at night for those wanting to take advantage of the balmy summer evenings of Africa.)
The Kruger Park Lodge Golf Course was designed by Gary Player in 1992 and is rated as one of the top 9 holes (18 tees) courses in the country. The course is every bit as beautiful as it is fun and challenging, and it has beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and well established lodge gardens. It has a moderate degree of difficulty (3 out of 5) and many water features that attract an abundance of bird life. The surrounding vegetation consists of traditional Lowveld acacias and shrubbery, and a large herd of impala is able to roam freely on the course, complementing the wild setting. Hippo can often be seen grazing and walking along the water’s edge from the hippo hide on one of the dams along the first fairway and occasionally a crocodile can also be spotted basking in the sun of the embankment.
